Rt 66 100th Year Anniversary

For decades, Route 66, known as the “Main Street of America,” was the major east-west route connecting Chicago and Los Angeles. Now stretching 2,400 miles, the highway has become a beloved cultural icon, appearing in songs, TV shows, books and movies.  

In 2026, the road turns 100 as we celebrate its centennial!  New Mexico has about 265 miles of the original road still travelable, and

the Sleepy Lobo Inn welcomes you to explore the landmarks along the route, head to one of the museums dedicated to its history or stop into one of the quaint motels or shops along the route.
